I long for the day that this is made illegal in the US. If we are
such an advanced country, why do we continue to torture and mutilate
our sons? How can any parent stand by and watch this happen? |
| Page, John—USA |
It is high time that a stop was put to "circumcision" in the US. It
is now 58 years since the practise was substantially reduced in the
UK |
| Page, Nancy—USA |
Circumcision is unbelievably cruel and barbaric. I shudder/cringe
every time I think of it. |
| Pahl, Johnny—USA |
This abhorrent human-rights violation that has been allowed to persist
and flourish in the United States has already marred my life in a
deeper way than I could possibly convey in words. I hope and pray
each day for its end, so that future generations of children will be
spared the anguish that I have gone through.
|
| Painter, Sandy—USA |
Sexual mutilation is appaling- on males or females. |
| palisi, tiffany—USA |
Circumcision is a mindless, harmful practice that should be illegal.
It saddens me that, for many baby boys, one of his first experiences
in this world is painful, cosmetic surgery that could lead to
complications, less sensitivity to the penis, scarring, disfigurement
or even death. It's done both to please the parents and make doctors
money, all without the child's consent. We do not allow for female
circumcision; why do we allow our sons to endure this horrific experience? |
| Palmer, Leah—USA |
As the mother of two boys kept the way God gave them to me I am VERY
active in this cause. I am currently starting up the first NOCIRC
group in Arkansas. |
| Palmerin, John—USA |
Any mutilation of any body, whether male or female is cruel and
inhumane. I believe that as Americans, we should be above and beyond
this point. I am circumcised and I wish I wasn't. My son, should I
ever have one, will not be put through this torture and I hope that
the MGM bill will be passed so that unknowing mothers will not be
coerced into it by doctors. |
| Palmerin, LaDenia—USA |
Mutilation is wrong on all counts...a "crime against nature."
Circumcision is not different from Female Genital Mutilation and so
why should it be treated differently? Specifically on male
circumcision, infant males feel pain just as adult males do if not
with even more sensitivity. Would an adult male voluntarily go
through circumcision without anything but local anesthesia? I think not. |
| Palosaari, Markku—Finland |
terrible |
| Palsgaard, Jens—USA |
It is time that this horrible practice end. The medical community
of the United States should be ashamed for calling circumcision a
medical procedure. It is time that the world recognize circumcision
for what it really is....a brutal act which forever mutilates the
child. |
| Pankratz, Brianne—USA |
It is so easy to find material and support for the banishment of
female genital mutilation/circumcision practices, which were outlawed
in the USA in 1996, but little public awareness of male genital
mutilation/circumcision, which is still practiced among roughly half
of USA males. I don't care whether you're circumcised or not, but I do
think each male should make that decision himself. It is wrong to
impose a permanent and personal decision on an infant. I feel that
the law opposing genital mutilation is gender-specific, therefore
unconstituational, as it discriminates on a basis of sex, and ought to
be expanded to include bans on all forms of child genital mutilation,
whether male or female. If you agree and want to offer support or
suggestions on how to change this law, contact me. Let's form a voice
in America. |
| Pannell, Nathan—USA |
By cutting off the foreskin you deny a boy of his right to choose if
he wants a foreskin or not. It his body not anyone else's he is the
only one who must decide if the operation is done or not.
If someone preformed female circumcision on a baby girl their would
be legal action taken but when someone circumcises a boy no one
takes legal action they just listen to the screams as the baby is
cut open without anesthesia. The baby is tortured we cannot allow
this to keep on going on and its not just because the baby boys are
being tortured it is because they lose the freedom to choice what is
done to their body something we all take for granted.
|
| Papke, Kevin—USA |
Recently had a newborn son and when i found out what kind of
procedure this was, I WAS FLOORED on what i was seeing, hearing and
what i didnt want to put my son through. I strive to support on what
i believe and i dont believe in THIS!!! It needs to stop, people need
to educate themselves and not put them selves in a general consensis
of what others believe.THINK for your damn self and stop injuring
innocent children. |
| Parker, Bryan—USA |
I am the circumcised father of an intact son. Fathers who circumcise
their kids so that they can look like them have no excuse in the
world.I wish I could look like him! |
| Parker, Lewis—USA |
It is horrible to strap an infant down and rip his foreskin off.
Doctors should be jailed! |
| Parker, Linsey—USA |
Hurting babies and kids is bad. Chopping off body parts when they are
newly born is simply wrong, and not to mention, painful.
|
| Parker, Zen—USA |
I am a baby who has my foreskin, and am quite certain that I wouldn't
want anyone to chop it off. Zen James Vincent Parker
I, Melissa Lavin, endorsed the resolution on behalf of my 2 1/2 year-old-son
who most certainly would not wish to have his foreskin amputated against his
will, without adequate if any, anesthesia, and without any sound medical
reason for such an amputation. If a minor problem were to arise with his
normal penis, I am certain that he would choose more conservative
treatments over the mutilatory elimination of 75% of his penile skin. I hope he
is not too young to be represented in the fight to save the male babies of this
country, and all babies all over the world. I must speak for him at this time
because he is voiceless, but that is what we do. We speak for ALL voiceless
and defenseless infants who cannot yet protect themselves. I know that if my
son had the words to do so, he would use them loudly against the atrocity that
is sadistic and insane genital mutilation. |
| parsons, mike—USA |
i was circumcised as an infant and didnt realize what i was missing
untill i recently became sexually active. i began restorinmg my
foreskin about 5 months ago and have noticed a remarkable
increase in sensitivity. i realize that i may never reach 100% of what
i should feel. but i can always hope. i believe that no infant should
be mutilated. that choice should beleft up to the individual when they
come of age. i have suffered sexually, physically, mentally, and
emotionally because of my status. and i hope that the senseless
cutting of children will stop soon. |
| Partington, Kendall—Canada |
Simple answer to the whole issue is this - To do this type of
mutilation to another human being without consent, ESPECIALLY to a
minor, is just as bad as child molestation or rape. Since they cannot
make this decision with any degree of informed understanding until
they are older and have a CHOICE, then it should only be performed by
their wish at the age which they are determined to be an adult.
Barring a GOOD medical reason of course.
Quite frankly, doctor's will be lucky if this does not eventually
lead to some serious lawsuit issues. I'm surprised it hasn't been a
major issue yet. There is a growing movement against this travesty.
|
| Partington, Kendall—Canada |
This should be such a no-brainer. It's child abuse. No parent should
have the right to remove a perfectly normal body part.
|
| pascucci, louis—USA |
it is mind-boggling to think that the u.s., my own country, believes
that neo-natal foreskin amputation is beneficial to our society. the
american doctors are sickening to my stomach. they can end this sick
and disgusting practice tomorrow, but they are too arrogant and/or
emasculated to do so. |
| Paslay, Kristi—USA |
I hope and pray that circumcision will end in my lifetime. Routine,
religious, |
| Patton, Michael—USA |
I was amazed at how many nurses came into the maternity room asking
when we [my wife and I] were going to "circ his wienie". That is a
direct quote from one of the nurses. It is a sad state when genital
mutilation is so lightly dismissed. Anyone who wants to circumcise
their boy should watch the video showing one before hand. Then if the
mutilation is still desired, the parents should sit in the room when
the procedure is being done. |
| Paul, Dey—United states minor outlying islands |
Good Luck with your campaigne and lets get all routine circumcision
banned. It's cruel and should be regarded as sexual abuse on fe/male
children and an unnnecessary procedure. It is a waste of our
surgeon's time when surgeons should be focussing on accidents and
emergencies. If we want child protection we should end genital
mutilation on a global scale. |
| Pauly, Gary—USA |
Genital mutilation is a violation of the human rights of the child.
It does irrepairable damage to the penis and to ones sex life. I
firmly believe that it is the leading cause of erectal dysfunction
in american men. Genital mutilation is the cause of death of
hundreds of innocent children annually, all of this with no medical
reason or benefit, except for the financial greed of the mutilator. |
| Pectol, Brandi—USA |
It is not my body, it is my son's body. I will let him make the
decision. |
| Peevy, Lee—USA |
Circumcision is Child Abuse, and should be prosecuted under the law. |
| Pellow, Angela—USA |
It is no one's right to strip a child of his/her body. Ever! |
| Pemberton, Tanya—USA |
|
| Pemberton, Tanya—USA |
I hope that one day people will realize what we are doing to our
boys is unjustifiable.
|
| Pena, Adriana—USA |
It is a deeply abhorrent practice, made more repulsive because it is
practiced on helpless children by those who are supposed to care for
them. |
| Perez, Carlos—USA |
Circumcision is just another form of body modification, more severe
and harmful than piercings and tattoos would be. And I have never
heard that piercing and tattooing a baby is the choice of the parents,
right?
Circumcision is simply a savagery and a barbaric thing to do to a boy
who can't express his opinion about loosing the most sensitive part of
his penis!
Circumcision is not the right of the parents, the only thing parents
have concerning circumcision is the RESPONSIBILITY to keep and protect
the physical integrity of their boy until he is old enough to make an
informed consent about it.
Routine Infant Circumcision should be banned, regardless of what the
excuse is. Once the foreskin is amputated, it's gone forever, and
there is no way back! |
| Peron, James—USA |
Founder of Childbirth Education Foundation |
| Perry, Trevor—USA |
Thank you for this resolution and declaration! |
| Persechino, Anna—USA |
I am adamently opposed to the genital mutilation of children. The
more I learn, the more appauled and disgusted I become. It is an all
out atrocity and I will never stop fighting it until RIC becomes
illegal in the U.S.! |
| Peters, Randi—USA |
I agree that circumcision is a sick, cruel and torturous act, and I
believe it has been perpetuated because of ignorance and/or monetary
gain of the medical profession and certain 'religions'. It amazes me
how long it has been perpetuated in our 'civilized' society, and it
is sad how so many mothers blindly and without question followed
their doctors' orders - and let their babies be taken out of
earshot... Thank you for bringing this to light and for doing
something to finally stop it. |
| Petersen, Jason—USA |
Ever since I learned why I had a scar on my penis, I have felt like
part of me was missing. No-one has the right to perform the
unnecessary and dangerous procedure of circumcision on an
unwilling/unconsenting subject. I fully support the efforts to ensure
genital integrity for all human beings. |
| Peterson, Jon—USA |
It is not something that I would choose for myself, my child, or for
that matter, any boy anywhere on this earth. It is not a decision
that has to be made for any child. It is a decision that should be
left to every male to make for himself as an adult. There is no
medical, moral or social reason for the ritualistic mutilation of our
male children in this manner and, in fact, there is already a law
against just this action in the case of females. |
| Peterson, Kent—USA |
Once people become consciously aware of the history, technical
procedure, and impact of circumcision, they will realize why this
arcane procedure is opposed by leading scientific and professional
organizations. As Alice Miller so eloquently wrote, child abuse has
been passed down so routinely from those with European ancestors that
it is considered "normal" to break the will and dampen the spirits of
those in whose hands our future lies. |
| Peterson, Neil—USA |
My ability to fully practice my religion has been denied by others
forcing their beliefs on my nacent individuality. No one has the right
to alter another in any way against their will. My body belongs to me, not
my parents, not my society and not their religion. Genital cutting violates
personal freedoms of choice and self determination.
"No action which is not voluntary can be called moral. So long as we act
like machines, there can be no question of morality. If we want to call an
action moral, it should have been done consciously and as a matter of duty.
Any action that is dictated by fear or by coercion of any kind ceases
to be moral. It also follows that all good deeds that are prompted by hope
of happiness in the next world cease to be moral." - M.K.Gandhi |
| Peterson, Shane—Australia |
No man or woman should have the right to surgically impose their own
religious, sexual, or cosmetic preferences on another individual, and
especially not a child. Children have the right to grow into adults
with full bodily integrity, and can then decide if they wish to
sacrifice any part of their own body for any reason they choose.
|
| Petker, Alin—USA |
we need to stop infant mutilation, best would be a worldwide stop of
genital mutilation. People need to know about this topic, far to many
people I have talked to about this topic have no idea about the
procedure, the effects and pain. People only think it is cleaner and
looks better, but they have never seen an intact penis, have read a
book about it. Most doctors I talked to even support cutting. Where
is this nation going ... let's stop it and soon as possible. We live
in the 21st Century. |
| Petrequin, Emily—USA |
Nothing is more barbaric and sickening than the genital mutilation of
unconcenting minors. It's excruciatingly painful, can have
devastating effects, and when regarded with common sense is simply
absurd. All human beings should be born with the right to keep all
their body parts intact, and certainly the erogenous protective penile
skin shouldnt be excluded. It saddens me deeply that parents still
subject their babies to torture and doctors still perform the
procedure knowing all the facts. I try to educate as many people as I
can about circumcision. I have probably saved a few foreskins and I
plan to save many more before this anti-wholeness craze comes to an end. |
| Pew, John—USA |
How can a civilized world be so oblivious to the pain that is
perpetrated upon the most innocent among us.
jeffrey |
| Pfaff, Jeffrey—Canada |
If it aint broke, don't fix it. |
| Pfaff, Tara—Canada |
This should not be a debate....There is no question....This is a
crime against innocents. |
| Phillips, Lisa—USA |
As parents, we don't have the right to make this decision. It is our
son's body and is no way detrimental to their health to leave them
intact. Their foreskin is there for a reason. God did not make a
mistake when creating our sons. He did not create all male boys to be
born and have to go through this traumatic & painful surgery at birth.
This is no different than forcing a newborn baby to go through some
form of unneeded plastic surgery (some without any drugs) at birth.
If they do not wish to have the foreskin, they can have it removed as
an adult, but it is not OUR choice. It is their body and their decision! |
| Phillips, Michael—USA |
totally opposed to infant circumcision |
| Pinder, Martin |
Genital surgery is a barbaric & sadistic abomination which leaves a
person in a state of lifelong suffering, that was originated by those
who feared the power of human sexuality & is practised by the
appallingly ignorant which includes those who should know beter,
such as doctors in the first world. It feels like an act of violent
cruelty & leaves the genitals permanently impaired. It is a hideous
invasion of a very private, highly emotionally charged & personal
area of the body causing strong emotional disturbances, anger, fear,
revenge wishes against the proponents of circumcision, & feelings of
loss. It can also lead to physical complications in later life. |
| Pinkerton, Michael—USA |
There is nothing wrong with circumcision. Circumcising babies and
children without their consent, however, is always wrong. |
| Pinkley, R.—USA |
Allowing circumcision and calling it good is absolutely absurd. How
can anyone in their right mind justify permanently and irreversibly
amputating parts of another person's body without taking into
consideration the person who actually has to live with the
consequences of that decision for the rest of his life? When there
is no medical justification, as is the case in circumcision, it is
medically unethical. Circumcised boys are permanently robbed of any
hope to know what it means to be a physically whole human being, and
the fact that a supposedly civilized nation performs such a barbaric
act on helpless human beings is beyond deplorable. |
| Pintchuck, Elizabeth—USA |
A veterinarian would anesthesize a puppy before such a procedure --
if we performed such procedures on puppies -- but we wouldn't do that
to a dog, would we? |
| plante, cerin—USA |
Why do parents, who are here to protect their children, pay people
to mutilate them? And why do we as a country stand for this abuse of
our children. A baby's body belongs to him and will continue to,
long past when we as parents "care" for them. If they choose to be
circumcised as adults then thats their choice to make. We can't just
go cutting of body parts for no reason! What ever happened to the
hypocratic oath!? |
| Platt, Kathleen—USA |
Every individual should have a right to genital integrity regarless
of race creed sex religion or age in every nation. |
| Pollack, Miriam—USA |
The questions posed by genital mutilation are larger and more
fundamental than simply which gender has been more damaged. To
challenge circumcision is to fundamentally challenge what it is to be
human. It means that we must acknowledge our babies' right to their
bodies. It means that we must acknowledge that babies do experience
pain and that pain is violence. Circumcision is deeply traumatic and
it is the responsibility of the parents to protect their children
from violence at all costs. Challenging circumcision is revolutionary
because it forces us to validate and allows us the possibility of
celebrating the full sexuality of our children as part of their
sacred inheritance. Challenging circumcision inevitably means
challenging the ancient notion of what is sacred. Re-naming the
sacred is the task which awaits us as we enter the Twenty-First
Century. It must be for life. |
| Pollack, Miriam—USA |
Genital integrity is not an issue of belief. It is the right of every baby to have his/her
sexual organs remain intact, free of unnecessary surgery and absolutely protected from
the violence of cutting. We know now that the pain of circumcision is extreme, that the
trauma to the babies is significant, measurable and long-lasting and that the foreskin has
multiple and critical functions for health and sexuality. The medical profession, the
insurance companies and our legislators must stop promoting and countenancing this
horrible violence that we ignorantly perpetrate on our innocent babies. |
| Pontius, Melissa—USA |
I live in an region of the U.S. where everyone circumcizes their boys
but both of mine were intact. Just "because that's what all parents
decide," doesn't hold much weight with my husband and me. |
| pope, andrew—USA |
I hate being circumcised, I want every male child born be allowed
the choice to be whole |
| Popken, Werner—Germany |
All this seems easy and simple, considering the desire of modern
western people, young and old, to "alter" their bodies
for "aesthetic", "sexual", "pleasure" or whatever reasons. |
| Powers, Brian—USA |
I believe foreskin removal should not be allowed and should be
against the law without the consent of the child. |
| Powers—USA |
I have two sons, both of whom are intact. There is no reason, medical or otherwise, for our
society to continue mutilating our sons. Please, let's put an end to this and begin educating
parents and medical personal against this barbaric practice. |
| Pratt, Simon—United Kingdom |
I find the whole idea repulsive that culture / religion imposes this
ancient mutilation on defenceless children. If an adult wants it, fine
they have the choice. |
| Prescott, James—USA |
Past President, Humanist Fellowship of San Diego and Humanist
Association of the National Capital Area; past AHA Board Member;
co-author/signer of "Humanist Manifesto II" and "A New Bill of Sexual
Rights and Responsibilities"; stated at the First International
Symposium on Circumcision (1989):
"...forms of male and female genital mutilation that are conducted as
a matter of social and religious custom...constitute "Acts of torture
(and) cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment" within the
language and intent of Article 5 of the "United Nations Universal
Declaration of Human Rights"; and
From: "Genital Pain vs. Genital Pleasure: Why The One and
Not The Other", Truth Seeker (July/August 1989), stated:
"....the confounding of pain and pleasure in the developing brain
provides the neuropsychological foundation for individuals who must
experience pain to experience pleasure, or who derive pleasure from
the experience of pain (sado-masochism)....these developmental
experiences of genital pain and affectional deprivation preclude the
possibility of realizing the spiritual dimensions of human sexuality. |
| Price, Meril-Jean—USA |
The non-sensical habit of hacking at the genitals of our children shows us yet to be
barbarians. Later, the witless scratching of our heads as to why they grow up aggressive,
sexually dysfunctional, learning disabled, autistic, Ausberger's and who knows what all
else, shows that we have not grasped the first thing about logic.
If you doubt this, have a friend or doctor cut or scrape your labia away, shave some of of
the skin from your penis, without anesthesia. Have them remind you that this is a
cultural, religious or medical necessesity.
Then go forth and live your life for the next few decades. Note how you now feel about
your world--friends, family, body, energy, knowledge and what is necessary and what is
not.
Madness. |
| Prince, Charles—USA |
I wish I could have talked my wife out of circumcising our three
sons. I feel terrible about it and I will do all I can to prevent my
grandsons form being circumcised. CP |
| Prophet, William—USA |
Infant male circumcision is blatant genital mutilation and should be
made illegal worldwide. |
| Purcell, Sarah—USA |
No one should have the right to remove healthy, living, functional
tissue (such as foreskin) from another human being without that
human's fully informed consent. EVER. For ANY reason. |
| Purdy, Robert—USA |
All circumcision of infants and children is torture and a violation
of human rights. |
