I am an American mother of 4 children. Three girls and one boy. ALL
of my children were left whole and intact. My son is no different
from my daughters in this. I think genital mutilation is one of the
most prevalent and most outrageous practices of all times, and it is
performed on the most innocent, trusting, and helpless creatures
around, our children. We are supposed to protect our children with
our lives if needed. I can't even begin to understand how and why so
many parents just hand over their new child to be tortured and
mutilated.
By leaving our sons intact we are changing the world one child at a
time. |
| Dahl, Jacob—USA |
I do not agree with routine circumcision of male babies, or
circumcision of a male child without his concent. I believe that it
should only be preformed on an informed adult who can make the
decision himself. Otherwise it is defintely not ok |
| Dahl, Jacob—USA |
I find the lack of care for such mutilation on boys, while we don't
allow it reguardless of religion on girls, to be appauling at best,
and a travesty at par. This is rediculous, It is a barbaric practice
that is regularly becoming obscene to even the religious sects,
including a vast number of jews, to whom it was a deeply sacred rite.
I am making a move to stop this practice on all children. |
| Dalenberg, Kathryn—USA |
Female genital mutilation is so HIDEOUS! It must be stopped. I was shocked and outraged
when I first learned about female genital mutilation. As time passed, I realized that
circumcision is a hideous cultural custom. Just because parents cause the birth of their
offspring doesn't give them inherent right to mutilate them. |
| Damato, Djrianna—USA |
No parent should have the right to genitally mutilate their child. |
| DAmour, Aimant—Canada |
I have discover that Orgasme Pleasur Love is God in Oneself, like in
the tradition of Tantra, and I consider that the Sexual mutilations
are sacrileges, even if I understand the origine of this practice.
If You want to understand and put a fundamental STOP to this misery,
please read my free e-book: "Universalize Love in Oneself, to
Universalise Love among Oneself." How to release Eros Sexy God in
Oneself, from the limitations, jealousies, violences and wars of

Thank you for bringing what should be a personal choice for adults to
light. |
| Dash—United Kingdom |
I have been extremely badly affected by this disgusting practice. Had
to grow up with horrible botched surgery in a society where none of my
peers were subjected to this cruelty. I've never been able to enjoy a
normal life as an adult, and my mental state and ability to function
as a active member of society has been compromised.
I'm really pinning a lot of hope in regenerative medicine, what keeps
me going is that one day it may be possible to undo this madness. |
| Davies, Anne—United Kingdom |
I only found out what Americans do to their babies recently because of
my boyfriend, who has been ruined. I was absolutely horrified that
such a barbaric and cruel practice is carried out on so many innocent
children for no reason other than cosmetic ones. I am assuming that
the reason so many American mothers have their children mutilated is
because they have no idea how it is done, or they somehow think that
because the baby will not remember the pain that makes it ok, or
indeed have never had any contact with a real intact man to know what
they are destroying for their son. I know what it's like to have
contact with a desensitized penis, and it's ruined the relationship I
had with its owner. What woman wants to constantly end up dry and sore
and wishing that the man she loves would just hurry up and finish? An
intact man doesn't hurt and gives incredible pleasure, please please
please, leave your sons (and their partners) to enjoy what they were
given. |

VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS |
| Davis—USA |
Genital integrity belongs to everyone, unequivocally. |
| Davis, Macie—USA |
It's barbaric to tie down little defenseless babies and skin their
penis :( |
| Davis-Gibbons, Brendan—Australia |
This practise is harmful and should be stopped.
thank you

PS.why is Tibet not on your list of countrys? |
| Day, Lucy—United Kingdom |
It must be understood that the mutilation of children, whether male or
female, belongs in the past. There is NO need for infant circumcision
except for immediate health problems. I am in full and total support
of this resolution. |
| Day, Mega—USA |
Something as permanent as surgical circumcision should not be decided
upon until adulthood when the man can make an informed and educated
decision on his own behalf. We've created a law to prevent female
circumcision, it's time to protect the male population as well. |
| Day, Mega—USA |
Circumcision decisions should be made only by the person to be
circumcised, not his parents. This is a decision that results in a
life-long scar. Doctors have taken an oath to "First Do No Harm" and
needless surgery is definitely in conflict with that oath. I THINK IT
IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE FORESKIN IS NOT A
BIRTH DEFECT. |
| de Swardt, Wim—USA |
Circumcision is not going to stop the HIVirus, just compare USA to the EU, there is far less
AIDS in the latter although much fewer circ's. And, let men choose for/against cutting
when they are old enough to have sex, and not have babies butchered when they are
helpless and at no risk. Apart from the physical damage, there is also a trauma that stays
with the cut boy/man all his life. |
| DeBacker, Edward—USA |
Since the earliest time that I remember, I have felt that there
was something wrong with genital mutilation. It has affected me in
ways that I can only begin to imagine.
It has always amazed me that common sense and reason can be
overshadowed by custom and ignorance in what is supposed to be the
most developed country in the world. Maybe that idea is simply
part of our custom and ignorance as well?
With sincere thanks for your work on this issue.
Edward Jerome DeBacker

| DeBlair, Delicious—USA |
I am a congenital hermaphrodite who survived in that my parents did
not choose to amputate or otherwise mutilate me, but I'm one of very
few so blessed to make it to adulthood intact.
I as well as many others I know seek to outlaw the mutilation of any
genetalia and as such seek for just such actions as this pettition
require.
I stand for all person's physiological integrity and as such will
gladly represent anyone who needs such.
Blessings to all who seek the same, sincerely, Delicious Vodka DeBlair |
| Debrito, Brianna—USA |
I am highly concerned about the routine circumcision of newborn boys
in the USA. This genital mutilation is performed with absolutely no
medical backing for cosmetic purposes only. I find it disturbing that
most medical insurance companies gladly fund this torture which an
innocent baby has no voice in. It's painful, it's unecessary, it's
traumatizing and it's morally and ethically wrong. We need to force
insurance companies to stop funding these unnecessary surgeries,
create more public awareness on the real truths about circumcision,
and leave it up to our boys to make an informed choice of whether or
not to keep their foreskin when they are adults. |
| Debrito, Kito—USA |
I was circumsized as a baby and wish I could've had a choice in the
matter. I am glad that my two sons are intact. |
| Delattre, Jerome—France |
I was victim at age 3 of a medical circumcision, unnecessary procedure as they all are,
which traumatized me and left physical, psychical and sexual scars, a deep suffering I was
unable to express until 30 years later. Circumcision is a child abuse, a sexual abuse, and a
mutilation. A shame for humankind.
I feel responsible for the new generations. Children need our protection. We have to end
the conspiration of silence. |
| DeLisle, Gilles |
Circumcision is fundamental violation of human rights. United legal
action will be required to stop this wide spread practise. |
| DeMasi, Joseph |
It is important to stop male as well as female circumcision worldwide. |
| deMause, Lloyd—USA |
Horrible, as I have written in my book "The History of Childhood." |
| DeMeo, James—USA |
I am most pleased to add my name to the Ashley Montagu Resolution To
End The Genital Mutilation of Children Worldwide: A Petition To The
World Court, The Hague. The plague of genital mutilations has been
studied intensively from an historical, cross-cultural and scientific
viewpoint, and is found to have begun only around 4000 BCE at
earliest, among migratory desert-dwelling tribes in the Mideast, and
afterward spread to other lands. The contemporary medical/health
rationalizations for these practices have been critically examined
and shown to be lacking in factual support. The historical roots of
genital mutilations are also shown to be anchored more in the
repressive dominator/authoritarian aspects of culture, rather than in
those cultural developments which have uplifted humankind, and made
the world a better place.
It is time for those concerned with the welfare of children to end
their silence, to stand up and be counted on this pressing issue,
which affects millions of children each year, boys and girls. The
World Court, The Hague is encouraged to take a serious, non-political
look at the Ashley Montagu Resolution To End The Genital Mutilations
of Children, and act to support and implement its proposals. |
| Deming, Brian—USA |
Finally. |
| Denham—USA |
Genital Mutilation under the guise of circumsision is a painful and
abusive practice. I will never subject my child to that kind of
invasion upon his person. If he chooses, for religious, medical, or
personal reasons to be circumsised at a more mature age, at that
point, I would feel he has the right to choose. As a Minor,
however, he is entrusted to me by God, for protection and shelter.
To jeapardize the helpless, vulnerable child by allowing someone to
break the skin on his body without medical necessity would make me an
unfit mother. I would not want his playmate to black his eye with a
tonka, neither will I allow someone to torture and mutilate his
personal organs. |
| Denniston, George—USA |
The human penis is designed correctly the way it normally comes into
the world, with its foreskin intact; a male's possession of his own
penis - including his foreskin - is his inviolable birthright; and a
child's chances for health and happiness throughout his life are
greater - by far - if he is allowed to keep all of the penis he is
born with. |
| Dervin, Gregory—USA |
It has only been a year since I started learning about the gravity of this
issue, but I already feel committed to spend my life fighting this grave injustice. |
| Descy, Lyrr—USA |
The sex organs have always been fair game for those who would control
others.
Let's end this horror, this victimization of children worldwide.
Female genital mutiliation is almost universally condemned, but male
genital mutilation continues to be considered benign and even
necessary. Nothing could be further from the truth.
|
| DesMoulins, Roger—New Zealand |
Female genital mutilation and exision are the most horrible human
customs I know. Most appalling of all is that this is often something
women to do girls.
Islam needs to reexamine circumcision in light of the cleanliness
afforded by modern life.
Circumcision makes no sense for Reform and secular Jews, and for Jews
who believe that being Jewish means having a fundamental commitment
to progressive causes. I invite stricter Jews to shift circumcision
from something imposed on a helpless newborn infant, to something
freely chosen by a fully adult man.
American routine infant circumcision is a Richard Dawkins meme run
amok in the genital realm. Americans who prefer circumcised reveal a
sad ignorance about what Nature intended human sexuality to be.
|
| Dewolf, Michael—Canada |
It should be called what it is "Foreskin Amputation".
I wondered for awhile how to sell and argue the anti-circumcision stance. It
dawned on me that circumcision is ultimately an amputation that is called
circumcision for historical reasons and to glaze over the fact that a part of the
body is being removed.
In my opinion, the anti-circumcision group should start calling circumcision
foreskin amputation. I think it would help to do this in court too.
What parts of a child's body is it entitled to have at the age of 18?
What about ear lobes? Can a parent amputate that? They're not that useful -
less useful than foreskins for sure. If I would amputate my childrens' earlobes,
everybody who saw them would be appauled. The children's aid would take
my children away in a second. (I don't really have children).
The only reason why foreskin amputations are O.k. is because male genitalia
aren't very good looking to begin with, and because nobody has to look at the
butchered genitalia on a regular basis (unlike ear lobes).

| Dey, Paul—United Kingdom |
I would like to support a ban on this barbaric medical and religious
procedure. It should be banned totally as it is immensely cruel to
children and it causes psychological effects a such as violence. We
need to put pressure on our primeministers, presidents, etc to
enforce a worldwide ban on routine male and female circumcision by
encouraging more people to sign this petition.
You have my overwhealming support and hope that this vile procedure
is finally confined to the history books. If we can outlaw slavery
we can ban the snip.
Update: 2006-07-11: Lets ban this abhorent procedures to male children. It is barbaric
and very cruel to little boys. We should be banned immediately from
nation to nation and tell the pro-snip doctors that they are wrong.
If we can ban slavery then we ban circumcision. |
| Diamond, Jed—USA |
1995
Understanding the pain and loss of function I have caused my son has
been one of the greatest sources of grief I carry as a parent. One of
my greatest joys in life is that I was able to educate my son and his
wife about circumcision which enabled them to break the cycle of
abuse and prevent the circumcision of my twin baby grandsons....I
believe with my heart and soul that ending circumcision is one of my
most important things I can do as a Jewish man. I am proud to join
with others who feel as I do.
2003
I can't think of any single act that would help preserve the integrity of males
and decrease violence in the world more than keeping boys intact as they
were born to be. |
| Diaz, Andrea—USA |
The biggest mistake we ever made was when we allowed our first son
to be circumcised. We did not make the mistake the second time but
will feel guilty for letting it happen to our first son for the rest
of our lives. |
| Diaz, Renato—Guatemala |
I have an intact penis. I have sometimes been "discriminated" by
this. I think there is so little understanding of male sexuality that
is is easy for people to choose circumcision as an alternative. I
think that there should be no place for such thoughts. I have always
been very clean so I do not suffer of those strange smells some
people report sometimes (Have they smelled their feet?), some
people's underarm smells are even worse!. I think cirsumcision is
stupid and simply assumed because it is easier to raise a circumcised
kid. It is always easier to raise a dog if that is the case! The
whole circumcision experience must be very painful and I do not think
it is necesary, advisable or wise. It must be extremely painful!
Besides, even if some doctors say it does not reduce sensitivity, it
must do. I cannot imagine how it is to live without a foreskin. |
| Dickson, Allison—USA |
I am very much in favor of ending this atrocious practice of genital
mutilation performed on unconsenting individuals. I find it to be an
egregious human rights violation that is perpetuated in my country by
the very medical professionals who are supposed to be protecting us
and our children from such harm. For our little boys in particular
who go without any protection from our Federal Government while
little girls are given those rights, I sign this petition in hopes
that the inherent gender bias that exists in the minds of Americans
when it comes to male gential mutilation will finally end, and that
all little boys are taken from the hospital wholly content, intact,
and unharmed by those whose job it is to protect and heal him.
I also submit this signature in hopes that this issue will be brought
to the forefront of mainstream American culture and away from the
closeted taboos that treat this procedure like a "dirty little
secret" that has to be done, despite all of the facts and evidence
stating that it shouldn't be. Circumcision for males and females is
a gross injustice performed on our most valuable and vulnerable of
assets- our children. And it's time more people saw and understood
the seriousness of this issue. |
| Dillard, Emily—USA |
I am against all forms of genital mutilation on children!! Routine
male infant circumcision is the same thing as female genital mutilation! |
| DiVito, Nadya—USA |

I believe that a child has the right to retain any and all body
parts he or she is born with. Each part of the human body has a
value and a purpose and removing those which are deemed to be
superfluous is both demeaning and cruel.
2005-07-11
Cultural ideals and parental preference/ignorance do not justify
the amputation of a vital body part. Circumcision is dangerous,
traumatic, painful, and damaging, no matter what sex the child is.
2005-08-24
The foreskin is a beautiful, essential part of a man's body. To
have it forcibly ripped from his body at a young age is not only
cruel and tortuously painful, it is barbaric. This inhumane and
unnatural surgery should be outlawed. Cosmetic surgery on
unconsenting infants and children is immoral and illegal! |
| Dodge, Jane—USA |
Like many Americans, I thought circumcising boys was simply normal.
But when my son was born, there was just no way I was going to allow
him to be touched by a scalpel. I urge all Americans of all faiths
to reconsider their views on circumcision and get behind the anti-
circumcision movement. Stop mutilating our boys. |
| Doll, Jacques—France |
Big support for your efforts ; I just want to add that my position
about circumcision and any other sexual mutilation is not against
jewish and muslim that I respect as brothers and sisters, but I
think that human beings are now big enough to see circucision as a
major and may be beautiful symbol... God once stopped Abraham's arm
above Isaac, says the Bible ! |
| Donoghue, Michael—USA |
I am very grateful and heartened to learn there are organizations
trying to bring this VERY important issue to the forefront. I hope
and pray that before I die this country will realize and admit what
an abomination this practice is and put an end to it. Its hard for
me to write about this because words truly cannot express my feelings
about this; so I'll leave it at that |
| Dotson, Anita—USA |
Had any one asked me 25 years ago I would never had let them cut a
body part off my son |
| Downie, Lesley—United Kingdom |
whether anaesthetised or nor, every cell in our bodies
remembers our whole story, our soul story |
| Downing, Bill—USA |
Child Circumcision MUST end NOW... |
| Downing, Brad—USA |
In dealing with my own mutilation, I have dedicated my life to
educating others, so the mutilations will deminish. The biggest
honor a person can have, I believe, does not come in the shape of a
fancy award or degree, but in having helped others and especially in
helping to save their dignity. |
| Downing, Jennifer—USA |
Every human being, male and female, has the right to their whole
body. Genital mutilations of all kinds should be illegal. No one
has the right to cut a child's most intimate parts in the name of
tradition, social custom or preferance. I believe the more aware
and educated we become, the less this awful practice will be
preformed. |
| Downing, Niamh—United Kingdom |
We hope that one day all children will have physical emotional and
sexual freedom and cease to be mutilated by those in whom they place
their trust. |
| Downing, Todd—USA |
The non-therapeutic alteration of any healthy tissue on a the body of
a non-consenting individual (including and especially minors) is
unnecessary, costly, unethical and in violation of several laws
already on the books (including the US Constitution). In addition to
the many scientific studies which have disproved various exaggerated
claims of "health benefits" for both males and females, when judged
against any code of medical or legal ethics, the genital cutting of
minors simply does not hold up. |
| Drever—Canada |
Take legal action! |
| Duguid, Graeme—Canada |
As a young adult which was fortunatly left intact after birth, i
feel that Routine Infant Circumcision should be banned world wide
because RIC is wrong and immoral. If a child wants to be circumcised
it should be his decision when he is old enough to make his own
decisions. |
| Duke, Gareth—Australia |
I an intact Anglo-Australian (4th generation) and have been
campaigning for many years to stop MGM.
I have been advising friends and anyone who will listen concerning
this barbaric, uncivilized, outdated practice.
With the scientific evidence now in after twenty odd years of
indepth research on the prepuce from childhood to about 20yr, these
finding cannot be dismissed.
I whole-heartedly agree with a comment I read: "Circumcised males
are not only scarred physically, but psychologically as well!"
MGM must be stopped for the sake of future male children on this
planet; education of medical staff, parents (both mother & father),
teachers (sex education in schools), and we must also convince
circumcised fathers not to mutilate their own sons. Most circumcised
fathers are in denial.
|
| Dumont, Robert—USA |
I was horrified to learn, at age 12 in sex ed, that my penis had been
mutilated without my permission. I felt physically and sexually
abused by my parents and the greed & ignorance-driven American
healthcare system. The emotional trauma will last the rest of my
life. I am now 28 years old have begun non-surgical restoration using
the TLC-X from http:\\tlctugger.com. But I'm just as guilty because
my cousin (now 12) was also circumcised, as I found out the first
time I saw him naked. I should have spoken up to his parents about my
feelings towards my circumcision (mutilation) bafore they did the
same to him, but I didn't. I will always regret that. That was my
first failure as his well-educated and now very protective older
cousin. The mutilation of a minor's genitals should be illegal until
he/she is a legally consenting adult who can make that choice for
themselves. |
| Duncan, Tony—USA |
I too had genital integrity issues at birth,,this should have been
done many years ago..Hope other children do not have to go through
what I did |
| Dunigan, Richard—USA |
I whole-heartedly agree with the statements in the Declaration and
hope to see the day soon when circumcision of any kind is banned
worldwide. |
| Dykes, Travis—USA |
My name is Travis Dykes and I don't believe in circumcision. My mother don't believe in it,
although they let her make up her own mind without giving an opinion ,neither did my
grandparents. I am lucky to have a mother that although a little flaky sometimes, believes in
evolution and that the body we have got us to the top of the food chain. Its not nice to fool
with mother nature.
|
| Dzydzora, Lucy—USA |
Every parent should watch the video of circumcision before subjecting
their child to it. Why subject your child to something you can't even
watch? http://www.cirp.org/library/procedure/plastibell/
